........Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal;
"Dust thou art, to dust returnest," Was not spoken of the soul.               

You may recognise Longfellow's 'Psalm of Life' and
you may also recognise that the images were taken in
Highgate Cemetery,

So this is one photographic journey in that beautiful  oasis of stone
and greenery in North London, combining monochrome images with
Longfellow's poem.

Longfellow's Psalm of Life was first published in 1838, and a year
later, Highgate Cemetery was opened.
